5.1 SUMMARY
In this Research project, it was
observed that most textile students have little idea about the use of traditional
dyes, most especially Osogbo dyes and its fabrics. There
is a need for textile students to be trained by specialists and special
programmes and rewards should also be organized by the government. Scholarships
should be awarded to successful students.
On
the other hand, it was observed that textile artists are not showing enough
zeal by committing themselves to their work due to the expensive nature of the
materials involved.
5.2 RECOMMENDATION
According
to Barber (1991), textile and dyed fabrics is part of our everyday activity. It
is recommended that efforts should be made by everyone to encourage textile
activities in our different homes and the society at large. It is especially recommended
that the government and art agencies formulate a programme that could be
extended to the citizens.
Free
textile awareness tours should also be sponsored by either the government or
some rich individuals to promote textiles. Art awareness tours could also be organized
and lectures be given to the entire public at large.
An
establishment, probably called “HOME OF TEXTILES”, could be organized by the
government to teach textiles and make the art very Easy.
5.3 CONCLUSION
As
stated earlier, over the years, textiles have played a vital role in the life
of humans, and by so doing all human beings will get acquainted with the art
piece. The introduction of dyed fabrics have made it so unique.
Thus,
the various visuals of dyed fabrics used for this study have vividly shown the
diverse ways in which both natural and Osogbo dyes can be used on fabrics and the uniqueness of the
Osogbo dyes.
It
is hoped that this research will enlighten and encourage textile students and
artists to effectively use the natural dye or the Oshogbo dyed fabric as a means of
communication.
